Monday Motivation: Strongest Girl I Know

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.
~Hellen Keller
My 14 month old daughter is the strongest girl I know. I was going to post about my fantastic day yesterday. I ran with a couple girl friends in the foothills and the rainy weather held off until the last half mile, it was a fantastic 6.8! Then I got to come home to a visit from my best friend and her daughters. My kids got a much needed play date especially since we were stuck inside due to weather. I got 5 hours of girl talk with the coolest girl I know, thanks D. D left, I did dishes, mopped the kitchen floor and was just about to tidy up the laundry room when the Bug tried to follow me in. There is a cat litter box in our laundry room so we don't allow the Bug in there. I tried to close the door before she could follow me in and I smashed her perfect little finger. In doing so, smashed my heart and confidence as a mother. There was some relief when examined her finger and found that I didn't sever her finger tip, but the nail had all but completely come off. This was at 8:10 PM. My baby's bed time is 8:15-8:30. She is such a trooper. She didn't cry at immediate care when they examined her, but she did tantrum at about 9:30 when we were still at immediate care and she wanted to be asleep.

This morning with my parental spirits crushed, my baby girl woke up with all smiles. This evening I came home from work and all she wanted to do was play. Even soaking her finger in iodine was made into a fun game. So as the quote above says, "...to behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable." My little Bug is such a strong personality and now I know she is mentally strong in the presence of physical pain to boot. Watch out world, there is nothing this Bug isn't going to be able to handle.

Why I Kick A$$: I needed some redemption in spirit after yesterday. So I was extra prepared with spreadsheets and details about critical workloads at today's management meeting. I love being on my game.

Thankful Three
  1. For my first official night at Krav Maga
  2. For a the spectacular day I had yesterday pre-8:10 PM
  3. For my new runner's world issue that arrived today

Ugh! There's nothing worse than accidentally hurting your kid! But of course she's a tough cookie, she's yours!
